My journey to writing has been one of avoidance. After all, why do the one thing that feels completely natural when I could do absolutely everything else that wasn’t!

But sometimes that itch just needs to be scratched and at the age of 40, I finally began to stop fighting the inevitable and put pen to paper.

Writing articles for online publications was a great first step but my heart lay in novel writing and, encouraged by my writing group, I began. Now, as a mother to 4, sister to 7, cousin to 40, aunty to 24 and wife to 1 very patient man, I feel like I have enough material to last a lifetime – thanks folks! I would also say (just not to my children) that I have found a purpose that has always been mysteriously lacking. So, after what seems like forever, my debut novel, The Reinvention of Maud O'Shea, will be coming soon!
